Make Love to a Plant

And make a no-budget movie to unstick from the gloom

A few years ago, I met Annie Sprinkle, who posited an ecosexual revolution (she generously let me post her 25 Ways to Make Love to the Earth manifesto in my Fogtown zine).

So now I decided to deal with my gloom about human mistreatment of our mother earth by taking Annie’s rules #2, 12, and 19 into a no-budget movie.

The fastest way to learn a new tool is to force yourself. Here’s the exercise I made, which you can try too, to get out of sadness and waiting mode:

Make a movie for no money, with whoever happens to be standing in front of you, and use at least one tool you’ve never used.

Here, I force-learned the editing/coloring program DaVinci Resolve, which I hadn’t tried yet. Who happened to be standing in front of me, in Glasgow, Scotland, was Charlie Clark, a great musician who’s been generously welcoming my brother Ethan into the scene there. Charlie had never acted before. He acts now, as The Man in Love.
